Privacy policy
Platzreife PRO is built so that your data stays with you. This policy describes which data arises in the app and on this website, where it is kept and who gets to see it.
This is a translation of the Datenschutzerklärung. If the two versions differ, the German version applies.
Controller
The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
the developer of the appGermany
Email: alexander.w.skowronek@gmail.com
There is no data protection officer, because there is no obligation to appoint one. If you have questions about privacy, please write directly to the address above.
The principle
The provider of Platzreife PRO does not collect any personal data through the app. The app has no user account and no server of its own, it does not connect to servers of the provider or of third parties (only iOS itself contacts the App Store for the purchase of the full version, see "App Store"), and it contains no analytics, tracking or advertising tools and no third-party components. Everything that arises while you learn and play is processed on your device. Data leaves your device only when you make it do so yourself: when you choose your own iCloud Drive as the storage location or export a backup. Both are described below. If you tap "Help and contact" or "Privacy policy" under Settings › About in the app, this website opens in your browser; the section "This website" applies to that.
Data in the app
For Platzreife PRO to work, the app stores the following in a file on your device:
- your learning progress, that is which questions you answered how and when, and for each question a checksum of its correct answer, so that after an update only the progress of changed questions starts again,
- your study plan with exam date, daily target, completed sets and the golf experience you gave during setup,
- the results of your mock exams and milestones you have reached, such as the date on which you entered "Exam passed",
- your rounds with course, tee, type of round, strokes per hole, the Handicap Index you entered and the number of reminders about pace of play and etiquette,
- your progress in the etiquette scenes, the demonstration hole and the checklist,
- the courses you import yourself as a course file.
Separately, the app remembers in the iOS settings on this device which storage location you have chosen. None of this is transferred to the provider, and the provider has no access to it.
You can delete all data at any time in the app's settings. If you remove Platzreife PRO from your device, iOS deletes the data stored there as well; a file in your iCloud Drive then remains until you delete it in the Files app or in the iCloud settings.
Location
Platzreife PRO needs your location for one thing only: during a round on the course, the app uses it to calculate the distance to the centre of the green. For this it asks for the permission "While Using the App"; there is no location tracking in the background. The app requests the location only while the hole view of a round is open and stops as soon as you leave it. The calculation takes place solely on your device. Positions are neither stored nor transmitted, not even to the provider.
Without the permission Platzreife PRO keeps working; only the distance is not shown. You can change or withdraw the permission at any time in the iOS settings under Privacy & Security › Location Services.
iCloud Drive
If you wish, Platzreife PRO keeps its data file in your iCloud Drive instead of on the device, so that your progress appears on your other devices. This happens only if you choose this storage location yourself in the app under Settings › Data. The file is then kept in the folder "Platzreife PRO" in your iCloud Drive. It is stored and kept in step between your devices by Apple as the provider of iCloud, on the basis of your contract with Apple and under Apple's terms and privacy policy. The provider of Platzreife PRO runs no service of its own for this, has no access to your iCloud and receives no content from it from Apple. You switch back to the device in the same place; the file in iCloud Drive stays there until you delete it.
Information on how Apple handles data in iCloud is in Apple's privacy policy.
Export and import
You can export your progress in the app as a backup file and import it again later. The file contains the same information as described above under "Data in the app". It is created only when you start the export, and you decide yourself where you keep it and with whom you share it; the provider does not receive it. The same applies to course files that you import.
App Store
Purchase, download and updates of Platzreife PRO run through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the data involved, for example about your Apple Account and payment, under its own responsibility. The provider receives from Apple only aggregated sales and usage figures that do not relate to individual people. Apple passes on crash reports and usage statistics only if you have agreed on your device to share them with app developers, and even then without your name or Apple ID. You can withdraw this consent at any time in the iOS settings under Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.
The same applies to buying the full version in the app. Apple handles the purchase through the App Store, with your Apple Account and the payment method stored there. Platzreife PRO receives neither your name nor your Apple ID nor any payment details. Whether the full version is unlocked is checked by the app on your device with StoreKit, Apple's purchase interface; for this, iOS connects to the App Store itself, and the app remembers the result only on the device, so that the full version stays open without a connection. In the same way Platzreife PRO recognises whether you downloaded the earlier paid version before 30 August 2026: for this, iOS provides on the device the version and date with which you originally downloaded the app. None of this goes to the provider, and the provider runs no server that checks or stores purchases.
No analytics, no advertising
Platzreife PRO shows no ads, uses no advertising identifier and does not track you, neither in the app nor across other apps and websites. The app sets no cookies and contains no analytics tools.
This website
This website is provided through GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When a page is requested, GitHub processes technically necessary connection data such as your IP address, date and time, the page requested and details of your browser in log files, in order to deliver the page and secure the service. The provider of Platzreife PRO has no access to these logs. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest lies in providing the website securely and reliably. Data may be transferred to the USA in the process. GitHub is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Details are in GitHub's privacy statement.
The website itself sets no cookies, loads no fonts, scripts or images from other providers and uses no analytics tools.
Contact by email
If you write to the provider by email, your address and the content of your message are used to answer your request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where the purchase or use of the app is concerned, and otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The message is deleted once the matter is settled and no statutory retention obligations stand in the way. Please do not attach a backup file unless it is needed for your request.
Your rights
Where the provider processes personal data about you, for example after an email, you have the right under the GDPR to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20). You may object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21). An informal message to the address above is enough for all of this.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for the provider is the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen, Kavalleriestraße 2–4, 40213 Düsseldorf, Germany.
Data that is kept only on your devices or in your iCloud Drive can be neither viewed, handed over nor deleted by the provider. You control it yourself: in the app under Settings › Data with export and "Delete all data".
Changes
If the app changes so that this policy no longer applies, it will be updated. The version published here applies.
