Platzreife PRO is developed and looked after by one person, who you can reach at alexander.w.skowronek@gmail.com. It helps if you mention which iPhone or iPad and which version of iOS or iPadOS you use and which version of Platzreife PRO is installed. You will find the version in the app under Settings › About, together with the version of the question catalogue. You can write in English or German, and a reply usually comes within a few days.
If a question or explanation seems wrong or misleading to you, the best thing is to send a screenshot of the question with its explanation. Every report is checked, and corrected questions arrive with the next update.
Frequently asked questions
What is free, and what does the full version add?
Without a purchase you have the introduction, the whole Reference tab with rules by situation, glossary, handicap and costs, the first-round checklist and the demonstration hole, along with the first three practice sets, one mock exam, one practice round on the course and the etiquette scenes of the first topic. You unlock the full version once; it opens any number of practice sets and mock exams, practising your mistakes, every type of round, all etiquette scenes and importing your own courses. There is no subscription and no advertising, and whatever you learnt before the purchase is kept.
I bought Platzreife PRO before. Do I have to pay again?
Not if you downloaded the earlier paid version of Platzreife PRO before 30 August 2026. In that case you get the full version without another purchase. Platzreife PRO recognises this through the App Store from your Apple Account; you do not need to do anything. If you only downloaded Platzreife PRO for free on or after 30 August 2026, this does not apply, and you unlock the full version as described above. The app does not take over your learning progress from the earlier version, because it has been rebuilt from scratch. If the full version screen still appears even though you bought before 30 August 2026, tap "Restore purchases" there while you are connected to the internet, and email the address above if that does not help.
How do I get the full version on a new device?
The full version belongs to your Apple Account, not to the device. If you sign in to the App Store on the new device with the same Apple Account, Platzreife PRO usually recognises the purchase by itself. Otherwise open the full version screen and tap "Restore purchases". Nothing is charged a second time. Your learning progress moves separately, as described further down.
Can my family members use the full version too?
Yes, through Apple's Family Sharing. If purchase sharing is switched on for you under Settings › your name › Family, the full version is available to all members of your family group without them having to buy it themselves. They open Platzreife PRO with their own Apple Account and, if necessary, tap "Restore purchases". Each family member keeps their own learning progress.
How do I get my money back?
Apple handles the purchase, so Apple also decides on a refund; the developer of Platzreife PRO sees neither your payment nor your name. You request it at reportaproblem.apple.com: sign in with your Apple Account, choose "Request a refund", select the purchase "Full version" of Platzreife PRO and give a reason. If the refund is granted, the full version is no longer unlocked afterwards; your learning progress is kept.
Does Platzreife PRO prepare me for an exam outside Germany?
Platzreife PRO follows the DGV Platzreife, the course permit that German golf clubs ask for. The mock exam copies its format, and the round assistant knows its assessment on the course. The rules themselves are the Rules of Golf and apply everywhere, but other countries have their own permits and exams with different formats. In which language your club holds the Platzreife exam is up to the club, so ask there before you book it.
How do I switch Platzreife PRO between English and German?
Platzreife PRO follows the language of your device. If your device is set to German, the app is German; with any other language it is English. To use a different language for Platzreife PRO alone, open the iOS Settings and go to Apps › Platzreife PRO (on iOS 17 simply Platzreife PRO in the list), then choose the language under Preferred Language. The option appears once more than one language is listed under General › Language & Region. Your progress stays the same in both languages.
How do I take my progress to a new device?
The easiest way is iCloud Drive. In the app, choose iCloud Drive as the storage location under Settings › Data. Platzreife PRO then keeps your progress as one file in your iCloud Drive. If you open the app on the new device with the same Apple Account and choose iCloud Drive there as well, your progress is carried over.
Without iCloud it works through a backup. On the old device, tap "Export backup" under Settings › Data and save the file, for example in the Files app, or send it to yourself with AirDrop. On the new device choose "Import backup" and then this file. The import adds to what is already there and overwrites nothing. If you set up the new device from a backup of the old one, your progress comes along anyway.
I have passed the Platzreife. Where do I enter it?
Under Settings › Exam › "Exam passed". After a confirmation Platzreife PRO remembers the date and shows it there. On the course the app then offers you a free round instead of the practice round and the mock exam round. If you tapped it by mistake, tap the row with the date and withdraw the entry in two steps.
Can I use my own golf course?
Yes, as a course file. Two fictional sample courses are included, on which you can get to know the round assistant, the scorecard and the round summary. You add your own course on the Course tab under "Courses" with "Import course". The app expects a JSON file in the format teeline-course/1 with holes, par, stroke index, the centres of the greens and the tees with Course Rating and Slope Rating. Without a course file you can still count strokes and keep track of your net par; only the distance is missing.
For the more experienced: many golf courses are mapped in OpenStreetMap with fairways, greens and tees. A course file can be created from that; Course Rating and Slope Rating are not in it and come from your club's scorecard. A conversion tool is available on request by email. If courses come from OpenStreetMap, the app names the source in the course list and under Settings › About.
The distance does not appear. What can I do?
The distance to the centre of the green needs two things: a course with the centres of the greens and your location. If the hole view says that there is no location yet, check in the iOS settings under Privacy & Security › Location Services › Platzreife PRO that "While Using the App" is selected. For a useful number, "Precise Location" should be switched on there too. Out in the open the first fix sometimes takes a few seconds. If you are more than a kilometre from the centre of the green, the app deliberately shows no number, because you are then not on this hole.
Platzreife PRO uses your location only while the hole view of a round is open. The position is processed on the device, not stored and not transmitted. Without the permission everything else works as usual. More on this is in the privacy policy.
Do the questions come from the German Golf Association?
No. All questions in Platzreife PRO were written for the app and are based on the Rules of Golf in the edition in force since 2023, on the World Handicap System and on how things are done on the course. They are not taken from the official question catalogue of the Platzreife exam, and Platzreife PRO is not affiliated with the Deutscher Golf Verband (DGV). The mock exam copies the length, time and marking of the exam so that you get used to how it runs. Which questions are actually asked in your exam and how it is held is decided by your golf club.
How do I delete my data?
Under Settings › Data you will find "Delete all data". After a confirmation and a second step, Platzreife PRO removes learning progress, plan, mock exams, rounds, scenes, checklist and imported courses. If your data is in iCloud Drive, it disappears on your other devices as well. If you want to keep your progress, export a backup first.
